I was driving around today and switching from station to station and on two different radio talk shows, I heard Charles Krauthammer being quoted in his Washington Post article today:
The Democrats are going to get beaten badly in November. Not just because the economy is ailing. And not just because Obama over-read his mandate in governing too far left. But because a comeuppance is due the arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them.
By all means, click on over and read the rest of the article. Besides Charles being very capable of seeing and then telling it like it is, he's also a most literary chap. He uses words that most of us do not necessarily use every day, so I took a few minutes and defined a few of them here:
recalcitrant: refusing to do what you are told to do
obstreperous: noisy and refusing to do what someone asks
nativism: a policy of favoring the interests of established inhabitants over those of immigrants
ad hominem: an ad hominem argument attacks the character of the person instead of his reasoning
When the Dennis Prager and Rush Limbaugh show both indicated they've couldn't have said it better, I figured I'd might as well make it available here.
